In 1941, in Savannah, Georgia Edwin E. Cowart Sr. started an insurance agency with the purpose of helping individuals and groups find life, health, and disability insurance coverage for peace of mind and security, one client at a time. A short twenty years later his son Ed Cowart Jr. joined, and together they built up their agency to serve thousands of individuals and group clients throughout Georgia, South Carolina, and the greater Southeast.
After 50 years since the agency’s inception in 1991, Ed Cowart Jr.’s son Emerson D. Cowart Sr. joined his father to continue the agency after graduating the University of Georgia, and then serving in the U.S Navy and later working with Turner Broadcasting. Together the father and son grew the agency’s client base significantly, through prioritizing the well-being of their clients, and by helping them find the insurance coverage that helps their families and their businesses grow and prosper in security.
While building and managing the Cowart Insurance Group , Emerson Cowart started another business, Momentum Resources Inc. A Professional Employee Organization that processed payrolls, administratively managed employee benefit programs, workers compensation programs, 401k pension plans, and human resources. Over time, Momentum Resources Inc. became a significant player within the field of human resource solutions for businesses in the Southeast. Through industry expertise, a focus on client satisfaction, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of small and medium-sized businesses the firm’s success propelled. In 2022, Momentum Resources Inc. was acquired by a national PEO, and Emerson Sr.’s son E. Duke Cowart Jr. joined the team at Cowart Insurance Group to continue the legacy of the agency.
